LESSONS LEARNED IN THE WINTER

LESSONS LEARNED IN THE WINTER

Let's just say I ALMOST died getting out of the parking lot of my building, but hey, it was SNOWING. And as people often forget, I'M FROM FLORIDA. Closest experience I've ever had to living in the snow (LIVING not vacationing to a ski resort) was when the local pool shut down because it was "too cold."

With snow comes ice and with ice, horrible driving conditions....and living conditions for that matter.

I don't know what I am doing.

Driving in the snow is like playing a game of Russian roullette...it's unpredictable AND ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING.

The other day as I was leaving to head to work, I noticed a layer of snow on my car windshield. Seriously, I was really excited, it was snow. Except when I tried to get it off, I wasn't so excited anymore because it wouldn't come off. The snow was actually ice and I was actually becoming numb because of standing by my car in the brutal December weather.

In a panic, I chased a van that my boyfriend was driving, (he's the guy who drives all of the DTS students to and fro) banged on his window, and yelled "there's ice on my windshield what in the flip do I do???"

Then, like a true northerner, this purebred Ice Age survivor leaps out of the van, runs to his car, and whips it out.

AN ICE SCRAPER????

I thought the hypothermia had got to him and he was losing his brain cells because this maniac proceeds to attack my car windshield.

Alright, the giant tooth brush worked and I could actually see out of my front windshield, and for that I'm thankful.

But the weather....not so much.
